Mckeithan Design Studio Fatherland Project

About the Client

Kurt McKeithan of Mckeithan Design Studio took on his signature project, The Fatherland, in 2020. The design transformed a circa early 1900s dilapidated Nashville church to a newly, completely renovated and unique home to a major music management firm.

Mckeithan spent two years designing and renovating this beautiful building and recently won the 2022 Commercial Preservation Award. Every room has been uniquely designed from the bell tower stained glass windows, to the stunning sanctuary fireplace inspired by French chateaux, to the custom bookshelves that house first edition American, French and Italian literature. Every detail was meticulously addressed.

Challenges

One of the key challenges of this project was providing convenient, on-demand power in rooms where traditional electrical power access was insufficient. Power requirements and accessibility were very different in the early 1900s, which created unique obstacles in the newly renovated spaces such as the bathrooms and the redesigned kitchen and gathering area.

The church’s beautiful stone walls lacked traditional power infrastructure and McKeithan’s vision called for clean stone backsplashes free of visible wall receptacles, while still meeting modern electrical codes. Power sources needed to be not only readily accessible, but also aesthetically integrated with the beautifully crafted stone countertops that Mckeithan designed.

How Lew Electric Provided Solutions:

Working closely with Mckeithan Design, we supplied multiple samples of our L-Evate PUR Series and PowerUp PUFP-CT Series countertop pop-up power assemblies in a variety of power and device-charging configurations. Each sample was selected to complement the natural stone countertops and the overall color scheme of each room. Our wide range of color options and configuration choices aligned seamlessly with McKeithan’s vision.
